Free computer & training for Bridgeport parents

Junta for Progressive Action, a non-profit organization, in partnership with the Connecticut State Library and Concepts for Adaptive Learning, is pleased to offer the first 30 families that sign up the opportunity to receive free computer training, a refurbished computer, home installation, and a year of high speed Internet service.

To be eligible, a parent must:

  • be a low-income Bridgeport resident, with a child or children attending Bridgeport Public Schools, and living in their home.
  • not have a working computer in the home.
  • qualify as a new subscriber to Frontier or Optimum internet service. (must not have been an Optimum or Frontier high speed internet customer within the past 6 months).

Participants will receive 10.5 hours of basic computer skills training, including word processing, email, monthly budgeting, Internet browsing, and basic computer maintenance.  Parents must complete training prior to CfAL installing the computer in their home.  Note: there is no charge to participate in this program.

Computer training classes take place monthly, for 3 weeks, in English and in Spanish, at the Gary Crooks Memorial Center, at 301 Bostwick Avenue, from 5:30 to 7:15 PM.
