In Memory of Gloria Maria Diaz-Arroyo, 1929 – 2016

Gloria Maria Diaz-Arroyo, 87, passed into the peaceful rest of the Lord on Dec. 20, 2016, with her daughter Mildred and grandson David Cabera by her side. Gloria was born June 8,1929 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, to José Ramon Diaz and Manuela Rivera. She was a devoted wife for 55 years to Pablo Arroyo until his death in 2006, and a loving mother to Evelyn, Raymond, David, Mildred, Paul, Daniel and Priscilla. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, and so many nieces and nephews whose love for their aunt was abundant. She was a founding member of Rock of Horeb Pentecostal Church in Bridgeport, returning to Puerto Rico in 1987. In the last nine years, she resided again in Bridgeport with her devoted son Daniel, who was by her side every day.

She is predeceased by her brother, Gregorio. and sisters Emelia, Maria Elisa and Benedicta. She leaves her brothers Ramón and Rafael and sisters Maria Josefa and Maria Dolores, as well as brother-in-law Rafael Cintron. The family is thankful for Eloisa Ortiz, who provided companionship and nourishment, and also for Dr. Cosmo Filiberto for the excellent care and kind attention he gave Gloria. Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at the Funeraria Luz de Paz (Peaceful Light Funeral Home) 426 E. Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Funeral Services will conclude in Puerto Rico at the convenience of the family.
