Immigrant families are under constant threat of deportation. The Deferred Action (DACA and DAPA) programs pose some potential relief to our undocumented community, allowing them to get work permits and safety from deportation. Community organizations and non-profits are key in helping immigrant communities to apply to Deferred Action. Come find out how to build a "Community-led DACA/DAPA Implementation" program, including how to run a DACA clinic, information workshops, how to train volunteers, provide information on know your rights, and conduct outreach. Importantly, this training will cover how to use DACA/DAPA implementation work as a movement building and engagement tool for immigrant individuals.
Learn how to share relevant information with immigrant individuals and families as to what their rights are even without immigration papers, and to see if individuals qualify for protection from deportation through DACA and possibly DAPA. With a potential decision on the lawsuit against DAPA coming in the next few months, this training is a timely and excellent opportunity to learn how to do this important work.
