The School Volunteer Association of Bridgeport, Inc. will celebrate the 31st anniversary of Read Aloud Day on October 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Over 600 volunteers will read to every pre-kindergarten through sixth grade class in the Bridgeport public schools.
The organization will provide the books which have been selected for each grade level. Volunteers will share Five Little Ducklings Go to School with pre-kindergarten classes and Ada’s Violin: The Story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay with fifth grade students. All books will be donated to the classroom libraries after they are read.
The organization hopes that the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers for reading and learning will inspire children to continue reading on their own and develop the skills that will make them successful in school and life.
