U.S. Senator Chris Murphy and State Representative Chris Rosario invite you for a meeting.
What’s Next for Puerto Rico…
Senator Chris Murphy and Rep. Chris Rosario want to hear directly from families & friends of those currently in Puerto Rico, community leaders, and organizations leading relief efforts on how they can best be supportive with immediate, ongoing recovery efforts, as well as addressing the systematic issues that have long impacted the island. Let’s all come together and have an important discussion on ways that we can work in solidarity to support Puerto Rico moving forward.
As a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Murphy called on Senate leaders to immediately work with Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Roselló to formulate and pass an emergency bill to rebuild Puerto Rico and restore stability to the island in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The hurricanes have left the island without many critical resources such as power, shelter, running water, accessible roads, communications capabilities and medical supplies. The Guajataca Dam suffered major damage during Hurricane Maria, and is in imminent risk of collapsing. Failure of the dam could cause life-threatening flash flooding endangering 70,000 Puerto Rico residents.
