Supermarket chain Big Y will begin hiring the 100-person work force for its new store at the intersection of Bridgeport Avenue and Nells Rock Road, officials with the Springfield, Massachusetts-based company said Wednesday.
The new store, which will be 56,000 square feet, is schedule to open later this fall. The Shelton location will be Big Y’s 31st store in Connecticut and its fifth location in Fairfield County.
Big Y will be seeking workers to fill both part-time and full-time positions when it opens its hiring center at 350 Bridgeport Ave. on Tuesday. The chain will continue hiring through Oct. 29, officials said.
Bob Rainville, director of the Shelton store, said Big Y will be seeking to fill management and support positions in every department. Interested applicants should apply through Big Y’s website, he said.
