The Town of Stratford and the Hispanic Heritage Committee is holding a planning meeting ahead of fundraising efforts aimed at sending relief to Puerto Rico.
“This is the first time where I’ve seen such wall-to-wall, corner-to-corner, 100 percent population affected,” says Robert Fuller, just two days after his arrival on the island.
Housatonic Community College in downtown Bridgeport has set up two drop-off points where you can donate water and non-perishable food items to Puerto Rico.
A radiothon to be broadcast on Bomba radio, 104.5 FM, will accept cash and provisions to help the people in Puerto Rico, devastated by Hurricane Maria.
An appeal of a controversial school-funding decision goes before the Connecticut Supreme Court this week.
"The devastation in Puerto Rico has set us back nearly 20 to 30 years," Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez told the Associated Press.
