‘Operation Zip-Loc’ collecting toiletries for Puerto Rico

Connecticut Area One of the Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Society Inc. is collecting toiletries for Puerto Rico under "Operation Zip-Loc."

Their goal is to gather 10,000 Zip-Loc travel-size toiletry bags, 12-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Tony's Huntington Inn, 437 Huntington Tpk, Bridgeport.

The sorority is looking for deodorant, powder, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, insect repellent, tooth brushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products and first-aid items.

They also seek D and C batteries, shipping boxes and shipping supplies.

Direct monetary contributions will also allow the sorority to purchase the items themselves. Make checks payable to CTA 1 Lambda Theta Alpha.

Volunteers are also needed to help pack the supplies into individual storage bags.

For information, call Lisa Crespo-Gerald at 203-395-1754 or email ac_cta1@lambdalady.org.

Lisa can also tell you about similar drives in the greater Hartford and New Haven areas, and about how school or church groups can become involved.
